Description
Abstract: In JFE Steel East Japan Work (Keihin district), the higher ratio of hot metal treatment is being tried to conduct for the purpose of the reduction of the production cost. While, the increase of scrap using is also being tried to carry out in terms of the higher productivity. Therefore, it is important to use the sensible heat of hot metal effectively in order to achieve both of them. Based on this background, Double-slag Refining Process (i.e. DRPTM) was introduced. The remarkable advantage of this process is to use the oxidation reaction of silicon in hot metal. Besides, it is possible to reduce the consumption of refining material regardless of the Si content in hot metal. Consequently, the achievement of both the reduction of the ratio of hot metal and the reduction of refining material consumption was enabled by this process, by attempting the reduction of refining time.
