Description
Abstract: This study presents a comparative evaluation on the effect of lecaniodiscus cupaniodes extract as a green inhibitor on the degradation of mild steels which have been heated to 900oC and 950oC before air-cooling and immersion in 0.5 M hydrochloric acid (HCl). Gravimetric and potential measurement techniques were used for the experimental work. The results were further analyzed using the two-factor ANOVA test. Lecaniodiscus cupaniodes performed effectively at inhibiting the rate of corrosion attack on the heat-treated metal in HCl medium with an average inhibition efficiency of 80 percent. Statistical analysis through analysis of variance (ANOVA) tests confirms the effect of inhibitor concentration and exposure time on corrosion behaviour at 95 percent significance.
