Abstract: Cadmium (Cd) is used extensively in the Cd-Te semiconductor industry. With the risks associated with Cd vapours, casting of Cd alloys poses challenges. In this research, the consolidation of pure Cd shots was investigated via Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) process. SPS was performed at 230C, 250C and 270C and the e ect of the sintering temperature on the densi cation kinetics was quanti ed. XRD and SEM analysis results suggest that carbon di usion from the graphite SPS tooling possibly occurred.
